If you’ve read our last article, you already know Joseph Elgard—the one-man kindness factory behind Comics and Cool Stuff—is the kind of person who makes you believe in community again.
And just when you think he can’t possibly give any more... he goes and donates an entire bag of stuffed animals to our Easter Egg Hunt benefiting Neurodiverse Network. Because of course he did.
That’s Joe. Quietly (or not-so-quietly) turning every opportunity into a moment of magic for someone else.
And now—it’s our turn to show up for him.
🎉 You’re officially invited to the Grand Opening of Comics and Cool Stuff’s brand-new location at 300 East High Street, Carlisle, PA! 🎉
📅 Sunday, April 6th
🕛 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
💥 Free to attend — and full of fun!
Whether you're a vintage toy fanatic, a Pokémon card aficionado, or a curious kid with a soft spot for Ghostbusters, this event is ready to knock your mismatched comic socks off.
Here’s what’s in store:
🦸♂️ Fandom & Freebies
- Free action figures to the first 50 visitors (We repeat: FREE. ACTION. FIGURES.)
- An explosion of cool: comics, Pokémon, GI Joe, Star Wars, TMNT, He-Man, Funko Pops, Hot Wheels, and collectibles galore
- An appearance by the Central PA Ghostbusters—yes, they’ll be in full gear, proton packs and all!
🧁 Sweet Treats & Sweet Causes
- Saving Acres Farm will be hosting a bake sale on site (your sweet tooth will thank you)
- They’ll also be collecting donations for the rescue, and for every donation, Joe will match it with a $5 store gift card. Because generosity is his default setting.
💬 A Note from Us
This isn’t just a grand opening. It’s a celebration of a local business owner whose heart is as full as his shop shelves. He’s quietly donated thousands of dollars in toys, helped local animal rescues, made sure no kid leaves empty-handed, and constantly steps up for others without ever asking for anything in return.
So let’s give him the packed house he deserves.
Bring the kids. Bring your nostalgia. Bring your love for collectibles and kindness and quirky local shops that feel like home. Let’s show Joe that Carlisle has his back, just like he’s always had ours.
And if there’s something strange in your neighborhood?
Well, now we know exactly where to go.
